Ingredients

  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup paprika
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon dried thyme
  • 5 pounds beef brisket, flat cut
  • 2 cups beef broth

Instructions

  1. Combine brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, kosher salt, black pepper, and dried thyme in a bowl to create the dry rub.
  2. Apply the dry rub generously on all sides of the brisket, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate overnight to marinate.
  3. Preheat the oven to 300°F. Place the marinated brisket in a roasting pan and pour beef broth around it.
  4. Cover the pan tightly with aluminum foil and bake for about 6 hours, or until the brisket is fork-tender.
  5. Remove the brisket from the oven and let it rest for 20 minutes before slicing against the grain to serve.
