Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 pound wax beans
  • 1 teaspoon canola oil optional
  • salt to taste
  • black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Grab a strainer and place the wax beans in. Thoroughly rinse them under cool running water..
  2. Snap or cut off the stem ends of each bean. Slice the beans into smaller pieces, if desired. Place the beans on a plate and dry them with a paper towel.

Steamed Wax Beans

  1. Fill a large pot with 1 to 2 inches of water. Put a steamer insert into the pot.
  2. Place the wax beans into the steamer.
  3. Bring the water to a boil over high heat.
  4. Steam for about 5 minutes or until it is cooked to your desired level of tenderness.

Roasted Wax Beans

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
  2. Add wax beans on a rimmed baking sheet. Toss them with salt, pepper and oil.
  3. Arrange the beans so that they are in a single layer.
  4. Roast for about 20 minutes, flipping them over halfway through so they cook evenly.
  5. Remove the baking sheet and allow the beans to slightly cool before serving.

Stir-Fried Wax Beans

  1. Add oil to a large skillet and add wax beans.
  2. Stir constantly using a wooden spoon. Cook for 2 and 3 minutes.
  3. Add salt and pepper, or other seasonings. Continue to stir-fry the beans, stirring them constantly, for approximately 4 more minutes.
