How to Freeze Sweet Potatoes (Step by Step Instructions)
Known for their delicious flavor and health benefits, sweet potato is an incredibly versatile vegetable. It can be enjoyed in a variety of dishes, from savory stews, to oven-baked wedges, and even desserts! If you have sweet potatoes on hand and you know you won’t get a chance to use them before they spoil, your best bet is to freeze them.
Servings: 1
Ingredients
- 1 pound sweet potatoes
- water
Instructions
- Cut the sweet potatoes into wedges or cubes.
- Add them to a pot of boiling water. Cook for 5 minutes or until they are tender but not soft.
- Place the potatoes into a bowl of ice water. This will stop the cooking process.
- Drain and cool the potatoes on paper towels.
- Place the blanched potatoes on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Ensure they are well spaced and in a single layer. Place the trays into the freezer and leave until completely frozen. This will take 4-5 hours.
- Remove the potatoes from the freezer and transfer to resealable freezer-safe bags or containers. If using freezer bags, remove as much air as possible before sealing. Label the bags/containers and place them in the freezer until ready to use.
