How to Make a Berry Smoothie
Description
How to Make a Berry Smoothie features frozen spinach and a frozen berry mix blended with vanilla-flavored Greek yogurt and protein powder, nut butter, almond milk, and nutrient-dense chia and flax seeds. The spinach is blended first with water to ensure it breaks down completely, preventing leafy chunks in the final blend. Then the remaining ingredients are added in sequence and blended until smooth, creating a smoothie that's thick and creamy without excess liquid.
The smoothie offers a balance of flavors from the berries, vanilla yogurt, and nut butter with a creamy texture from the yogurt and seeds. Chia and flax seeds add texture and nutritional depth while the protein powder supports a filling drink.
Serving in cups pre-smeared with nut butter creates an added layer of flavor and texture. Garnishing with fresh berries enhances the presentation and adds fresh fruit brightness. This smoothie is suitable for a nutrient-rich breakfast or snack when you want a cold, creamy and textured drink with varied ingredients that work well together.
Ingredients
- 1 cup spinach frozen
- ½ cup water filtered
- 1 cup berry medley frozen
- 1 tbsp nut butter
- 1 coop protein powder I used Clean Simple Eats, vanilla
- ⅔ cup Greek yogurt vanilla flavor
- ½ cup almond milk unsweetened
- 2 tbsp chia seed I used Carrington Farms, blend
- 2 tbsp Flax Seed I used Carrington Farms, blend
Instructions
- Add the spinach and water to the blender. Blend for 30-60 seconds until no chunks remain.
- Add the remaining ingredients, layering the protein powder and flax last. Blend for another 60 seconds until smooth throughout.
- Smear the inside of two cups with nut butter (optional).
- Pour the smoothie into the two cups. Garnish with fresh berries and enjoy!
Notes
- Blend the spinach and water thoroughly first to avoid chunks.
- Start with less almond milk than expected to keep the smoothie thick and creamy.
- Use vanilla-flavored protein powder and Greek yogurt to maintain a balanced sweetness.
