How to make Coriander Powder | Dhaniya Powder
This coriander powder recipe uses roasted coriander seeds to produce aromatic and flavorful ground coriander. The seeds are toasted on medium heat until fragrant and lightly browned, then cooled before grinding to a coarse or fine powder depending on preference. This roasting step enhances the seed's natural oils and yields a deeper flavor in the homemade spice powder.
Ingredients
- 2 cup coriander seeds about 4.5 oz
Instructions
- Heat a heavy bottom pan on medium heat and add the coriander seeds.
- Roast the coriander seeds for 5-7 minutes till you get a wonderful aroma and see the seeds changing color slightly.
- Then transfer the coriander seeds to a clean dry plate and let them cool.
Making Coriander Powder using a grinder
- Once the coriander seeds cool down to room temperature, transfer to a grinder to make a coarse or fine powder. You can also use a spice grinder.
Notes
- Grinding unroasted seeds in small batches keeps flavor fresher for longer.
- Store coriander powder airtight to maintain aroma and prevent spoilage.
- Roast seeds on medium heat with constant stirring to avoid burning.
- Allow seeds to cool completely before grinding to prevent moisture buildup.
