How To Make Homemade Hot Chocolate Mix
This Homemade Hot Chocolate Mix blends powdered milk, icing sugar, cocoa powder, and semi-sweet chocolate chips into a ready-to-use powder. After processing into a fine consistency, it can be stored and mixed with hot water for a creamy, chocolatey drink. The mix creates a rich hot chocolate without needing to add milk separately. The recipe allows optional marshmallows to be added after blending for extra indulgence.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups powdered milk
- 1 cup icing sugar
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1 cup chocolate chips semi-sweet
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients in a larger food processor and process until completely broken down and it's powdered. The chocolate chips will take a while to become granules, so have patience and just let the food processor chop it all up.
- Store in an airtight container for 6 weeks (or more), but it won't last that long!(mini marshmallows are optional but can be added to the mix after processing).
- Stir into hot water to taste (I like mine strong and use a good two heaping tablespoons for my mug). You don't need to add milk since we already use powdered milk in the mix.
Notes
- Process the chocolate chips thoroughly to ensure a smooth powder without large pieces.
- Store the mix in an airtight container for up to six weeks to maintain freshness.
- Adjust the amount of mix per cup of water depending on desired chocolate strength.
- Optional mini marshmallows may be added after processing for extra sweetness.
