How to Make Tacos with Ground Beef

Ingredients

Taco Seasoning
  • 1/4 cup mild chili powder
  • 2 tablespoons cumin
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1/2 tablespoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 tablespoon paprika
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes optional
For Taco Meat
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2/3 cups water
  • 6 taco shells
  • toppings

Instructions

  1. Mix taco seasoning ingredients together. This makes about 1/2 cup of seasoning. You will only use 3 tablespoons of the mix and you can save the rest for later. It has a shelf life of about a year.
  2. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef. Drain off excess grease.
  3. Add 3 tablespoons of taco seasoning and 2/3 cup water. Stir to combine and simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. Add ground beef to taco shells.
  5. Top with your favorite taco toppings and serve.
