Instant Pot Broccoli

Instant Pot Broccoli uses medium-cut florets steamed briefly under high pressure without added cook time. The quick steam preserves the broccoli's texture and vibrant green color. A grilled broccoli variation adds a charred flavor using coconut oil, garlic, chili, and lemon. This recipe provides a simple way to prepare broccoli as a steamed or grilled side with fresh seasoning options.

  3. Place the steamer basket inside the Instant Pot insert and then add the broccoli florets to it.

To Make Grilled Broccoli
  1. Add the oil, garlic and the chilli to a pot over medium heat until garlic starts turning golden brown. Garlic and chilli burn very quickly so as soon as they start changing colour,  pour the mix into a cool container to stop the cooking.
  2. Heat a grill pan or broiler over high heat and grill the broccoli in batches making sure to turn the florets halfway through so all sided get char marks.
  3. Transfer the grilled broccoli to a bowl, pour the garlic and chilli mix and a dash of lemon juice (if using).
  4. Adjust seasoning, add in lemon wedges (if using) and serve.

Notes

  • Adjust cooking time to 1 minute under high pressure for softer broccoli or larger florets.
  • Save and chill the cooking water for a nutrient-rich drink containing vitamins extracted during steaming.
  • Cook time excludes time to reach pressure and natural pressure release.
  • Serve steamed or grilled broccoli alongside rice, chicken marinades, or Parmesan crusted chicken for a balanced meal.
