Instant Pot Brown Rice
Instant Pot Brown Rice cooks long-grain brown rice with an equal amount of cold water, producing fluffy grains with a slightly chewy texture. The pressure cooking method speeds up cooking while retaining the rice's natural nutty flavor and nutrients.
Ingredients
- 1 cup (200g) brown rice long grain
- 1 cup (250ml) water cold
Instructions
- Pressure Cook Brown Rice: Place 1 cup brown rice (200g) and 1 cup cold water (250ml) in Instant Pot. With Venting Knob in Venting Position, close the lid, then turn Venting Knob to Sealing Position. Pressure cook at High Pressure for 15 minutes (See experiment for your own preference), and Natural Release for 5 minutes, then Quick Release (turn Venting Knob to Venting position). Open the lid carefully.
- Serve: Fluff brown rice with a rice paddle or fork. *Pro Tip: If the rice is a bit wet, let it rest a bit for the moisture to escape before serving.
Notes
- If rinsing rice before cooking, drain well and reduce the water by about 3 tablespoons to keep the water ratio accurate.
- Let leftovers cool completely before refrigerating to maintain quality.
- After cooking, fluff rice with a fork or paddle and allow it to rest if it seems wet to let excess moisture escape.
