Instant Pot Brown Rice

Instant Pot Brown Rice cooks long-grain brown rice with an equal amount of cold water, producing fluffy grains with a slightly chewy texture. The pressure cooking method speeds up cooking while retaining the rice's natural nutty flavor and nutrients.

Description

This recipe uses one cup of long-grain brown rice combined with an equal volume of cold water in an Instant Pot. The pot is sealed and pressure cooked on high for 15 minutes, followed by a natural pressure release for 5 minutes and then a quick release to finish. This method ensures fully cooked rice with a tender texture while preserving the whole-grain’s characteristic chewiness.

The rice is fluffed after cooking to separate the grains. If the rice seems moist after cooking, resting briefly allows excess moisture to evaporate. This straightforward approach delivers consistent brown rice suitable for a variety of meals, from sides to salads and bowls.

If rinsing rice before cooking, drain thoroughly and reduce water slightly to maintain proper water-to-rice ratio. Leftovers should be cooled completely before refrigeration.
