Instant Pot Perfect Hard Boiled Eggs

This recipe guides making hard boiled eggs in an Instant Pot, using steam pressure to set the eggs to your preferred doneness. Whole eggs are placed on a trivet above water, cooked under high pressure for 3 to 7 minutes, then quickly cooled in ice water. This method yields consistent results from soft to hard boiled eggs without stovetop timing guesswork.

  • 6-12 egg large

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Add water to a 6-qt Instant Pot®. Place metal trivet into the pot. Gently add eggs on top of the trivet.
  2. Select manual setting; adjust pressure to high, and set time for 3-7 minutes.* When finished cooking, quick-release pressure according to manufacturer’s directions.
  3. Cool eggs in a bowl of ice water for 1 minute. Drain well and peel.

Notes

  • Adjust pressure cooking times to achieve yolk doneness: 3 minutes for soft, 4-5 for medium, and 6-7 for hard boiled eggs.
  • Quickly cool eggs in ice water to ease peeling and prevent overcooking.
