Instant Pot Perfect Hard Boiled Eggs
Description
The Instant Pot Perfect Hard Boiled Eggs recipe uses steam pressure to cook eggs evenly. After adding a cup of water and placing the eggs on the trivet, the pot is set to high pressure for a short time ranging from 3 to 7 minutes depending on desired firmness. The quick release of pressure stops cooking immediately, preventing overcooking and green rings.
The immediate transfer of eggs to ice water cools them quickly, making peeling easier and stopping carryover cooking. The wide timing range allows customizing yolk texture from soft and runny to fully firm.
This technique is simple and convenient for preparing multiple eggs at once, useful for meal prep, snacks, or recipes calling for hard boiled eggs.
Ingredients
- 1 cup water
- 6-12 egg large
Instructions
- Add water to a 6-qt Instant Pot®. Place metal trivet into the pot. Gently add eggs on top of the trivet.
- Select manual setting; adjust pressure to high, and set time for 3-7 minutes.* When finished cooking, quick-release pressure according to manufacturer’s directions.
- Cool eggs in a bowl of ice water for 1 minute. Drain well and peel.
Notes
- Adjust pressure cooking times to achieve yolk doneness: 3 minutes for soft, 4-5 for medium, and 6-7 for hard boiled eggs.
- Quickly cool eggs in ice water to ease peeling and prevent overcooking.
