Instant Pot Sausage Gravy

Instant Pot Sausage Gravy blends cooked pork sausage with a butter-flour roux and milk to make a creamy, seasoned gravy. Maple syrup adds a subtle sweetness, balanced by salt and black pepper. The quick pressure cooking thickens the gravy and develops its flavor, perfect for serving over biscuits.

Description

This Instant Pot Sausage Gravy recipe starts by sautéing pork sausage in the pot until browned and no longer pink. Unsalted butter is then melted in the same pot, creating a base for the gravy. Flour is sprinkled over the meat and butter, cooking briefly to form a roux that thickens the mixture.

Milk is added along with maple syrup, salt, and black pepper, and the mixture is stirred to combine. The gravy is pressure cooked for 2 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and the gravy to thicken. After a quick release, the gravy is stirred and can be thickened further by using the sauté function if necessary.

The completed gravy has a smooth, creamy texture with a savory sausage flavor accented by a hint of sweetness from the maple syrup. It is typically served over warm cooked biscuits for a classic comfort food.
