Ingredients

  • 1 pound chicken breast cubed
  • ½ cup Italian breadcrumbs
  • ¼ cup Stonyfield Whole Milk Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • ¼ red onion roughly chopped
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • avocado oil for cooking
  • burger buns for serving
  • Lettuce tomato and red onions for serving
Burger Sauce
  • ½ cup Greek yogurt
  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon sweet pickle relish
  • 2 teaspoons mustard
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. In a small bowl, mix together the ingredients for the burger sauce. Set aside.
  2. In a bowl of a food processor, place the chicken cubes, breadcrumbs, Greek yogurt, mustard, onion, paprika, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Pulse until just blended and comes together as a ball, but be careful not to over mix.
  3. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat (about 375-400°F) and oil the grates.
  4. Form the mixture into 4 equal patties. Press down in the middle of each patty with your thumb to ensure even cooking of the chicken burgers.
  5. Cook the chicken burgers on the preheated grill until the internal temperature is 165˚F, about 10 minutes total, flipping halfway through.
  6. Assemble the chicken burgers with buns, sauce and toppings of choice.

Notes

  • Don't overmix the patties. Overmixing your ground chicken mixture can lead to tough, chewy burgers. Mix just until the ingredients are combine and then form into patties for tender, juicy results.
  • Mind the grill temperature. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Too hot, and the burgers might burn on the outside before they're cooked on the inside; too cool, and they might dry out before developing a nice crust.
  • Indent the patties. Before grilling, make a small indentation in the center of each chicne patty with your thumb. This helps the burgers cook evenly and prevents them from puffing up in the middle.
  • Check for doneness. Use a meat thermometer to check your patties and make sure they are done. The internal temperature should reach 165˚F, indicating that the chicken is fully cooked and safe to eat.
  • Rest your chicken burgers. After grilling, let the patties rest for a few minutes before serving. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the patty, resulting in a juicier burger.
