Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (more or less depending on heat tolerance)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 cups hot cooked white or brown rice, divided
  • sliced green onion optional
  • sesame seeds optional

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, cook and crumble the ground beef and garlic, over medium heat, until no longer pink. Drain any grease.
  2. Once the beef is brown, add the brown sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, red pepper flakes and black pepper. Stir mixture to combine everything. Let it simmer for 5 minutes or until heated through.
  3. Divide the beef mixture and rice evenly among four bowls. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds, if desired. Enjoy!
