Layered Taco Dip Recipe
This layered taco dip combines a creamy base of cream cheese, sour cream, and taco seasoning topped with fresh salsa, shredded cheddar cheese, and optional crisp vegetables like lettuce and scallions. The smooth creaminess paired with zesty salsa and melty cheese creates a balance of textures and flavors ideal for dipping with tortilla chips. Chilling the dip before serving allows the layers to set and flavors to meld, making it a practical choice for casual gatherings or snack times.
Ingredients
- 8 ounces cream cheese softened (I use ⅓ less fat)
- 16 ounces sour cream I use light
- 1 package taco seasoning
- 8 ounces cheddar cheese shredded
- 8 ounces salsa
- Optional toppings:
- lettuce
- scallions
- olive
Instructions
- Mix cream cheese, sour cream and taco seasoning pack together in a bowl. You can just use a fork or you can use a hand mixer.
- Spread mixture into a 9 x 12 dish
- Spread a layer of salsa over top
- Sprinkle cheese in top of salsa
- Add any other optional toppings that you prefer.
- Refrigerate for about 30 minutes before serving.

Notes
- To vary texture, add a bottom layer of refried beans or seasoned ground taco meat before the cream cheese mixture.
- Top with shredded lettuce, sliced scallions, olives, or diced fresh tomatoes for added freshness and crunch.
- Refrigerate the dip for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld and the layers to firm for easier dipping.
