Ingredients

  • 3 lemon plural
  • 1 one-inch fresh ginger root piece
  • 1 cup honey (more or less as needed)

Instructions

  1. Wash the lemon and cut into slices. Pack the slices in a clean, dry jar.
  2. Grate the ginger root into the jar with the lemon wedges.
  3. Fill the jar with honey.
  4. Close the jar and let stand for at least 24 hours before using.
  5. Store in refrigerator or dark, cool pantry.

Notes

  • Allow the mixture to steep at least 24 hours before first use for full flavor infusion.
  • Use one tablespoon of the honey mixture dissolved in hot water or tea to soothe sore throats.
  • Do not give to infants under 12 months due to honey safety concerns.
