Magic Mushroom Sauce Recipe
This Magic Mushroom Sauce blends sautéed crimini mushrooms, soaked cashews, garlic, and seasoning into a creamy, smooth sauce. The sauce is made by cooking the mushrooms until browned, then blending a portion of them with soaked cashews and seasonings, resulting in a rich, creamy texture that complements various dishes. It serves as a versatile sauce that can enhance pasta, vegetables, or proteins with its earthy mushroom flavor balanced by the cashews’ creaminess.
Ingredients
- 1 cup cashews soaked
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 ½ lb crimini mushroom sliced, or button mushroom
- 1 large garlic minced, clove
- 1 teaspoon salt sea salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Add the olive oil to a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Add the mushrooms and cook, stirring occasionally, until they are brown, about 15 minutes.
- Add the soaked cashews, garlic, sea salt, pepper, 1 ½ cups of water and a scoop of the cooked mushrooms to a food processor or blender and blend on high until smooth.
- Pour the sauce into the pan with the rest of the mushrooms. Bring the sauce to a boil then remove it from the heat.
Notes
- Soak cashews at least 4 hours to soften, or less if using a high-powered blender for smoother blending.
- Use olive oil and salt to balance flavors and aid in sautéing the mushrooms evenly.
- Add water gradually to adjust sauce thickness to preference.
