Mango Daiquiris

The Mango Daiquiris recipe blends ripe mango flesh with white rum, fresh lime juice, sugar syrup, and ice for a refreshing tropical cocktail. The preparation can be done with or without a blender, using pureed mango and mixing with spirits and sweeteners. The drink is bright, fruity, and balanced between sweetness and tartness, ideal for serving chilled with optional fruit garnishes.

Ingredients

  • 1 Mango 1 1/4 cups of flesh, large ripe
  • 90 ml / 3 oz white rum (I use Bacardi)
  • 2 tbsp sugar syrup (adjust to taste) (Note 1)
  • 1/4 cup lime juice fresh
  • 1 ice cubes or 1 cup crushed ice), plus more to serve, heaped cup
Sugar Syrup (Note 1)
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/4 cup water boiling
Garnish (optional)
  • strawberries
  • lime slices
  • mint

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Chill glasses in the fridge.
Make With Blender
  1. Place Daiquiri ingredients in the blender in the order listed (ice last, blends better).
  2. Whizz until ice is blitzed. Taste test then adjust sour with lime and sweetness with sugar.
  3. Pour into glasses - this recipe makes the perfect amount to fill 4 martini glasses.
  4. Garnish with strawberries, lime and mint if desired. Serve cold.
Without Blender
  1. Puree mango using a stick blender or food processor.
  2. Pour into 1 litre / 1 quart or larger jar or bottle. Add bacardi, sugar syrup and 1/2 cup water (Note 3). Refrigerate until chilled. Also refrigerate the limes and glasses.
  3. Once chilled, add lime juice and ice cubes into the bottle. Shake well, then serve, straining the ice cubes. You can also put some crushed ice into the glasses, but remember that as the ice melts, it will dilute the cocktail.

Notes

  • Adjust sweetness and sourness by tasting due to variations in mango ripeness and flavor.
  • Sugar syrup can be made ahead or substituted by dissolving sugar before adding ice.
  • Frozen mango can be used to make a frozen version, though ice is still recommended to moderate the intense mango flavor.
  • Non-alcoholic version can be made by replacing rum with lemonade.
  • Chilling glasses and ingredients helps maintain the drink’s refreshing temperature.
