For the potato masala
- 500 gms potatoes
- 1 large onion sliced
- 1 green chilli or more if you like it spicy, halved
- ½ tsp urad dal
- ½ tsp channa dal
- 12 curry leaves
- ½ tsp cumin seeds
- ½ tsp black mustard seeds
- ¼ tsp turmeric powder
- ¼ tsp red chilly powder
- salt to taste
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
