Mashed Sweet Potatoes Recipe

Creamy mashed sweet potatoes recipe that's simple and delicious. Sweet potatoes are mashed with milk and spices, making a tasty side dish.

Ingredients

  • 3 lbs sweet potatoes
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Aleppo pepper
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • fresh thyme to garnish
  • fresh Rosemary To garnish

Instructions

  1. Peel the sweet potatoes and cut each into 3 or 4 pieces. Place them in a pot and cover the pot with water. Boil over medium high heat for 25 minutes or until they are fork tender.
  2. Drain the potatoes and place them in a bowl. Mash them using a potato masher or an electric mixer.
  3. Add in the milk, salt, pepper, garlic powder and Aleppo pepper. Mix again until creamy and smooth.
  4. Transfer to a shallow serving bowl and top with olive oil, fresh thyme, rosemary and more Aleppo pepper if desired.

Notes

  • You can use whole milk, 2% or plant-based milk as long as it's not sweetened or flavored. 
  • If Aleppo pepper isn't available, use paprika instead. 
  • Store the leftovers in an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 4 days. Reheat in the microwave or in a saucepan over medium heat.
