Matcha Kit Kat Bars (Copycat Recipe)

This recipe recreates Matcha Kit Kat Bars by coating vanilla wafer "fingers" with a smooth mixture of melted white chocolate, coconut oil, and sifted matcha powder. The layered coating sets firmly when chilled, mimicking the look and flavors of the original candy with a balance of creamy white chocolate sweetness and the earthy bitterness of matcha green tea powder. The bars are assembled by "gluing" the coated fingers together for an authentic matcha Kit Kat experience.

Ingredients

  • 2 vanilla wafers
  • 60 g white chocolate melted, chopped
  • 1 ml coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon matcha powder sifted

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Cut the 2 vanilla wafers in half lengthwise so you have 4 "finger" pieces.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, heat the white chocolate in 20-30 second increments until melted.
  3. Stir in the coconut oil and matcha powder until well combined.
  4. Use an offset spatula to coat the surface of the vanilla wafer "fingers" (this will now be the "bottom") with the matcha chocolate and repeat with the remainder.
  5. Place into the freezer or fridge for the matcha chocolate to set.
  6. Once set, flip the vanilla wafer "fingers" so the matcha chocolate side is on the bottom.
  7. Use an offset spatula to coat the surface and sides of the vanilla wafer with the remaining matcha chocolate.
  8. Pop the tray back into the freeze or fridge for the chocolate to set, about 5-10 minutes.
  9. To join the two matcha Kit Kats together, add a bit of matcha chocolate to the bottom of the Kit Kat fingers and "glue" together.

Notes

  • This recipe makes four matcha Kit Kat finger bars.
