Meatball Sliders

Meatball Sliders use Hawaiian rolls hollowed out to hold a fully cooked meatball coated in marinara sauce. The rolls are brushed with a seasoned garlic butter and filled with mozzarella before and after inserting the meatball. Topped with parmesan and additional cheese, the sliders are baked covered and uncovered to melt the cheese and warm the sliders through. These small sandwiches combine soft, buttery rolls with melty cheese and savory meatballs in a handheld format.

Ingredients

  • 12 count hawaiian rolls
  • 3 tablespoons butter melted
  • 1 tablespoon garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/8 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 6 ounces mozzarella cheese shredded, divided
  • 12 meatballs fully cooked, thawed
  • 1/2 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Parmesan Cheese

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Cover a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil. Spray if using foil.
  2. Place rolls onto the baking sheet. Cut a hole into the tops of each roll and remove about a tablespoon of the center of the roll. Enough to fit a meatball in the center and have it still stick out the top a bit.
  3. Mix together melted butter, garlic, Italian seasonings, and garlic salt. Brush inside and over the tops of the rolls, pushing garlic inside the roll centers.
  4. Press a pinch of mozzarella into each roll.
  5. Coat meatballs with ¼ cup marinara sauce and press a meatball into each roll. Top each meatball with remaining marinara sauce; about 1 teaspoon of sauce each.
  6. Sprinkle sliders with parmesan and remaining mozzarella.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 10 minutes. Uncover and bake for an additional 10 minutes.
  8. Sprinkle with chopped fresh basil, parsley or additional parmesan cheese. Serve with extra marinara sauce.
