Mexican Brownies Recipe

These Mexican Brownies are fudgy and rich with gooey chocolate, seasoned with cinnamon and piquant spices. Brownies are the best dessert. Here is the recipe.

Ingredients

  • 4 ounces unsweetened dark chocolate chopped
  • 1 stick butter 8 tablespoons
  • 1 cup light brown sugar packed
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne powder
  • 1 teaspoon ancho powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 large eggs beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chopped (chips are good)

  1. Heat your oven to 325 degrees F. Lightly oil an 8x8 baking dish.
  2. Add the dark chocolate and butter to a large microwave-safe dish and microwave it on HIGH for 1 minute. Remove, stir, and microwave another 30 seconds, or until the chocolate is melted completely through.
  3. Stir in the brown sugar, cinnamon, cayenne, ancho powder and salt.
  4. Vigorously stir in the eggs and vanilla, then stir in the flour a bit at a time until the mixture thickens up nicely.
  5. Stir in the milk chocolate chunks, then pour the mixture into the baking dish. Smooth it out on top.
  6. Bake for 30 minutes, or until the center is still slightly moist when tested with a toothpick.
  7. Cool slightly and serve!

Notes

  • Makes 9 large squares (or 16 small ones)
