Ingredients

For the Doughnuts
  • 2 ½ teaspoons active dry yeast 1 packet
  • 1 tablespoon plus ⅓ cup granulated sugar divided
  • ¼ cup plus ½ cup warm milk not hot, divided
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter plus more for brushing
  • ¾ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon Meyer lemon zest
  • ½ teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 2 ½ cups flour plus more as needed
For the Meyer Lemon Glaze
  • 1 teaspoon Meyer lemon zest
  • 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed Meyer lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons whole milk
  • ¼ teaspoon cardamom
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
