Milo Dinosaur

Milo Dinosaur is an iced chocolate malt drink, combining Milo powder with sugar, water, and milk, served chilled over ice cubes. It features a characteristic powder topping of Milo or cocoa, adding a dry malt burst to the creamy cold beverage. This drink is rich and customizable with sweetened or unsweetened Milo and different types of milk.

Ingredients

  • 4 Tablespoons milo powder or to taste. If using sweetened milo, reduce sugar used. Get the Australian milo if you can- it tastes better than the Malaysian or Thai one!, unsweetened
  • 1½ Tablespoons sugar or to taste. The recipe is super flexible. You can also use brown sugar.
  • ¼ Cup water If you only have cold water it's a bit more difficult to dissolve the milo and sugar. A trick would be to put them and the water in a mason jar and shake vigorously to dissolve, hot
  • ½ Cup milk Remember milo is a drink of excess! Low-fat is not the way to go (though you can if you want, of course.) In fact, I recommended using evaporated or condensed milk too!, whole fat
  • 5 cubes ice Use frozen milo to avoid the melted ice diluting the drink.
For the topping
  • 2 Tablespoons milo powder or to taste. Substitute: cocoa powder.

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Add the milo and sugar to the cup and mix well.
  2. Pour in the water and stir till more or less dissolved.
  3. Add the milk followed by the ice cubes.
  4. Top with the extra powder!

Notes

  • Store Milo Dinosaur in the fridge up to 2-3 days in an airtight container for advance preparation.
  • Use frozen Milo cubes to avoid dilution from melting ice cubes.
  • For a richer treat, add ice cream or whipped cream as toppings or blend with ice cream.
  • Sugar and Milo amounts are flexible; adjust to taste and type of Milo used.
