Mini Baked Sweetheart Donuts

Delicious chocolate mini baked donuts topped with melted chocolate topped with festive sprinkles.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs beaten
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup applesauce unsweetened
  • 2 tablespoons oil canola, vegetable or coconut
TOPPING
  • Wilton's candy coatings red and white (melted according to packaged directions)
  • Sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Lightly grease donut pan or mini muffin pan. Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl mix together flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, stir milk, eggs, vanilla, applesauce, and oil together.
  4. Pour into dry ingredients and mix until blended. Don’t over mix.
  5. Using a pastry bag or plastic sandwich bag, pipe dough into prepared pan. Bake 8-10 minutes.
  6. Allow to cool for about 5 minutes before removing the donuts from the pan.
  7. Dip each donut or mini muffin into the melted chocolate and decorate with sprinkles.
