Mint and Basil Lemonade
Mint and Basil Lemonade combines fresh lemon juice with an herb-infused simple syrup made by simmering sugar, water, basil, and mint. The result is a fragrant lemonade with herbal notes and balanced sweetness. Chilled and served over ice, it refreshes with a blend of citrus and garden herbs.
Ingredients
- 2 cups sugar
- 3 cups water divided
- 1/2 cup basil loosely packed
- 1/2 cup mint loosely packed
- 2 cups lemon juice fresh
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine the sugar, one cup of the water, the basil, and the mint. Let the mixture come to a simmer and simmer until the sugar has dissolved. Remove from the heat and let the mixture steep for 30 minutes.
- Strain the mixture through a sieve and discard the herbs.
- In a large pitcher, combine the remaining 2 cups of water, 2 cups of lemon juice, and the prepared simple syrup. Stir to combine and chill until ready to serve.
