Mint and Basil Lemonade

Mint and Basil Lemonade combines fresh lemon juice with an herb-infused simple syrup made by simmering sugar, water, basil, and mint. The result is a fragrant lemonade with herbal notes and balanced sweetness. Chilled and served over ice, it refreshes with a blend of citrus and garden herbs.

Description

This Mint and Basil Lemonade recipe prepares a flavored simple syrup by simmering sugar, water, fresh basil, and mint until the sugar dissolves. The syrup then steeps off heat to extract herbal aromas. After straining out the herbs, the syrup is mixed with fresh lemon juice and additional water to create a bright, sweet, and herbaceous lemonade.

The interplay of mint and basil adds a fresh, slightly sweet, and aromatic herbal layer to the tartness of the lemon. This combination offers complexity beyond plain lemonade, making a cooling beverage that can complement warm weather or casual meals.

As the concentrated syrup is sweet and strong, it is typically served over plenty of ice which dilutes and balances the flavors. Additional water can be added to taste depending on desired strength. While nutritional information is best used as a guideline, this lemonade focuses on natural ingredients without artificial additives.
