Ingredients

  • 4 lices white bread
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 4 lices ham
  • 4 lices turkey
  • 4 lices Swiss cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ cup milk
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • powdered sugar for serving
  • raspberry jam or strawberry jam, for serving

Instructions

  1. Spread Dijon mustard over two slices of bread. Layer each with two slices of ham, two slices of turkey, and two slices of Swiss cheese. Top with the remaining slices of bread to form sandwiches.
  2. In a shallow dish, whisk together the egg, milk, salt, and pepper.
  3. Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat. Dip each sandwich into the egg mixture, making sure both sides are well coated. Place the sandwiches in the skillet and cook until golden brown on each side, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  4. Cut each sandwich in half. Dust with powdered sugar and serve with raspberry or strawberry jam on the side.

  • Bread Choice: Thick-sliced bread like brioche or challah works best for holding up to the egg mixture and frying process.
