Most Delicious Candied Yams
These candied yams bake tender discs of yam coated in a sweet and spiced glaze of orange juice, brown sugar, honey, olive oil, and warm spices. Baking covered then uncovered allows the yam to cook through while the glaze caramelizes, finishing with a sprinkle of sea salt to balance sweetness.
Ingredients
- 4 yams peeled and cut into 1/4 inch discs
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- salt to finish, sea salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and grease a medium-sized baking dish.
- In a large bowl or resealable plastic bag combine yams discs, orange juice, brown sugar, honey, olive oil, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Toss or shake to combine until all yams are well coated.
- Pour contents into the greased baking dish, cover with foil, and place in the preheated oven. Cook for 45 minutes.
- Remove foil and stir, then cook for another 15 minutes.
- Once yams are fork tender and the sauce has caramelized, remove from oven. Let cool and enjoy!
