Muhammara: Middle Eastern Red Pepper Dip

Ingredients

  • 400 g jar of roasted red peppers (or roast your own red peppers)
  • 150 g walnut crumbs
  • 60 g rusk grated (or breadcrumbs)
  • 60-80 ml olive oil
  • 1 tbsp Tahini
  • 2 tbsp pomegranate molasses
  • ½ tsp crushed chili flakes (or Greek bukovo)
  • salt
  • pepper
For serving:
  • Nachos
  • baked pita bread, as for souvlaki
  • homemade pita bread
  • sourdough bread
  • raw vegetables sticks

Instructions

  1. Place all the ingredients in a food processor, season with salt and pepper to taste, and blend well.
  2. Muhammara can be served with nachos, baked pita bread, sourdough bread, raw vegetables sticks or anything else you want.

Notes

  • We can replace the molasses with grape molasses and instead of walnuts we can use white almonds.
