Mustard Cream Sauce
Mustard Cream Sauce is a smooth, thickened sauce made from butter, flour, milk, cream, and two types of mustard. It offers a mildly tangy flavor with a creamy texture, suitable for dressing meats and vegetables.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1 cup milk
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon white vinegar
- 1 tablespoon mustard powder dry
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon parsley dried
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- black pepper ground
Instructions
- Melt the butter in a saucepan over moderate heat. Add the flour and mix thoroughly.
- Add the milk and cook over high heat, stirring constantly with a whisk, until the sauce thickens and comes to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer for 3 minutes.
- Beat in the cream, vinegar, dry mustard, Dijon mustard, dried parsley, salt, and a few grinds of pepper. Serve immediately.
Notes
- Use 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley instead of dried for a fresher flavor.
