Nutella Bread
Nutella Bread combines a soft French bread dough rolled with creamy Nutella, chopped hazelnuts, and a touch of salt. The bread presents a tender crumb with a rich, nutty chocolate swirl inside, enhanced by a golden egg wash crust. Its unique layered structure offers a balance of sweet and salty that makes it a pleasant treat, ideal for breakfast or a snack when fresh from the oven.
Ingredients
- 1 French bread dough , in tube (or use linked homemade dough)
- 1/2 cup Nutella , (or use homemade recipe below)
- 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 cup hazelnut chopped
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon water
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Unroll French Bread onto a floured surface, shaping into a rectangle.
- Microwave the Nutella for 30-40 seconds.
- Using a rubber spatula, spread in an even layer on the surface of the dough, leaving a 1/2 inch border of dough.
- Sprinkle the salt and hazelnuts on top of the Nutella evenly.
- Starting at one long end roll tightly.
- Place in a greased bread pan.
- Mix egg and water.
- Brush egg wash mixture over the top of your bread.
- Bake for 24 minutes.
- Remove from oven, and let cool before serving.
Notes
- Warm the Nutella slightly to make spreading easier and more even.
- Let the loaf cool fully before slicing to prevent filling from spilling.
- Homemade Nutella can be stored at room temperature for about two weeks in an airtight container.
- Use a sturdy French bread dough as the base to provide structure for the filling.
