  • 1 French bread dough , in tube (or use linked homemade dough)
  • 1/2 cup Nutella , (or use homemade recipe below)
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 cup hazelnut chopped
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon water

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Unroll French Bread onto a floured surface, shaping into a rectangle.
  3. Microwave the Nutella for 30-40 seconds.
  4. Using a rubber spatula, spread in an even layer on the surface of the dough, leaving a 1/2 inch border of dough.
  5. Sprinkle the salt and hazelnuts on top of the Nutella evenly.
  6. Starting at one long end roll tightly.
  7. Place in a greased bread pan.
  8. Mix egg and water.
  9. Brush egg wash mixture over the top of your bread.
  10. Bake for 24 minutes.
  11. Remove from oven, and let cool before serving.

Notes

  • Warm the Nutella slightly to make spreading easier and more even.
  • Let the loaf cool fully before slicing to prevent filling from spilling.
  • Homemade Nutella can be stored at room temperature for about two weeks in an airtight container.
  • Use a sturdy French bread dough as the base to provide structure for the filling.
