Ingredients

  • ½-2 teaspoons matcha green tea powder or to taste. You will need to use more matcha (i.e. 2 teaspoons) if you want a greener drink. Use the best quality (ceremonial) you can find/ afford. See post on how to store after opening.
  • 1 Cup oat milk Shake before pouring to prevent separation.
  • ½-1 Tablespoon maple syrup or to taste. Substitutes: honey (if not vegan), sugar, 1 of these ways to sweeten lattes without sugar or 1 of these maple syrup alternatives.

Instructions

Method 1: Mason Jar Method
    Cup of Yum
  1. Shake the oat milk then pour into the Mason Jar.
  2. Scoop in the matcha powder (If you add the matcha first, it'll stick to the walls of the container.)
  3. Close securely then shake vigorously till no lumps remain. Your oat milk latte will froth up nicely!
  4. Open carefully to prevent dripping (especially around the cap), sweeten to taste and enjoy!
Method 2: Traditional Matcha Whisk, Regular Whisk or Fork
  1. Add the sifted matcha powder and 1 Tablespoon of hot water to a deep and wide bowl. (Water no hotter than 160°F-170°F (70°C-80°C))
  2. Whisk till no clumps can be seen. Transfer to your drinking cup.
  3. Shake the oat milk then pour into the bloomed matcha.
  4. Sweeten to taste. Enjoy!
Method 3: Blender
  1. Add the shaken oat milk, matcha and sweetener to the blender. Blend till frothy. Enjoy the foam!
Method 4: Electric milk frother
  1. Shake the oat milk. Add the milk, matcha and sweetener to the frother.
  2. Froth till the powder is totally "melted" into the liquid. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Storing Matcha Powder
  • Matcha cannot be exposed to heat and air without losing flavor and health benefits. If using a ziplock bag, you even need to squeeze the air out before sealing to prevent oxidation! Next, store it in a dark airtight container in the fridge (as matcha easily absorbs flavors and should not be exposed to light.)
  • Storing the Oat Latte
  • Simply store extras in an airtight container in the fridge. The matcha will settle at the bottom so you'll need to whisk or shake before drinking to disperse the matcha powder (and create the milk foam) before drinking.
  • Variations: See post for how much vanilla, pandan etc to add!
