Ingredients

  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 20 ounces mini marshmallows
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 7 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 24 Oreo cookies

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Prepare a 9x13-inch pan by coating it with butter, cooking spray, or lining it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. Place the Oreo cookies inside a large ziplock bag and crush them using a rolling pin or your hands, leaving some larger chunks for texture. Set aside.
  3. In a large pot, melt the butter over low heat. Once melted, add the mini marshmallows and stir continuously until fully melted and smooth.
  4. Stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt to enhance the flavor.
  5. Remove the pot from heat and quickly fold in the Rice Krispies cereal, stirring until evenly coated in the marshmallow mixture.
  6. Add the crushed Oreo cookies, reserving ¼ cup to sprinkle on top and gently mix until combined, ensuring the cookie chunks are evenly distributed.
  7. Transfer the mixture to the prepared pan, pressing it down evenly using a greased spatula or clean, buttered hands.
  8. Sprinkle the remaining ¼ cup crushed oreo’s over the krispie treats.
  9. Allow the treats to cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cutting into squares or rectangles.

Notes

  • Store the Oreo Rice Krispie treats in an airtight container at room temperature. They will stay fresh for up to 3 days.
  • To ensure that you slice the treats easily and evenly, I recommend that you grease your knife with butter or nonstick cooking spray to keep it from sticking.
  • Use only fresh ingredients in this recipe for the best results. If the marshmallows are old or stale, they will not melt properly.
