Our Favorite Banana Bread

This is our favorite banana bread! Sour cream banana bread is made with brown sugar, 2 bananas, butter and sour cream. I love to top it with chocolate chips for an extra treat!

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup mashed bananas, about 2 or 2.5 medium bananas
  • ½ cup sour cream or plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Spray a 9x5 inch loaf pan with nonstick baking spray.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter and brown sugar. Whisk in the eggs one at a time. Whisk in the vanilla extract. Whisk in the mashed bananas.
  4. Stir in the dry ingredients until just combined. Stir in the sour cream until combined.
  5. Pour in the loaf pan. Sprinkle the mini chocolate chips in a single layer over the batter. Bake for 55 to 65 minutes, or until a tester inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. Let cool completely before inverting and slicing.
