Oven Baked Beer Brats

Ingredients

  • 8 bratwurst sausages
  • 1 onion *thinly sliced
  • 2 garlic cloves *minced
  • 12 oz beer
  • 2 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt/Pepper *to taste
  • 8 split brioche rolls
  • toppings of choice (sauerkraut, onion, ketchup, peppers, etc.)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add in the sliced onions and minced garlic, and saute for about 5 minutes, or until golden brown and softened.
  3. Push onions and garlic to the side of skillet and add in the sausages. Brown on all sides, about 5 minutes.
  4. Pour in your beer, enough to cover sausages about halfway. Allow to come to a simmer, about 5 minutes.
  5. Transfer brats and onions to a baking dish and pour in the beer mixture. Season with salt and pepper.
  6. Bake in oven for about 20 minutes, or until brats are 160 degrees internally and browned.
  7. Serve the sausages on a roll with toppings, or on their own! Enjoy!
