Peanut Butter Blossoms

Peanut Butter Blossoms combine creamy peanut butter and butter with sugars, egg, and milk to form a soft dough, finished with a classic milk chocolate kiss pressed into the center. The dough balls are rolled in granulated sugar before baking until the edges are lightly golden, providing a tender cookie with a sweet chocolate center and a lightly crisp sugar coating.

Ingredients

  • ½ c. peanut butter creamy
  • ½ c. butter softened to cool room temperature, unsalted
  • ½ c. granulated sugar plus more for rolling dough balls
  • ½ c. brown sugar light; firmly packed
  • 1 egg
  • 2 T. milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract pure
  • 1-1/4 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • ½ tsp. kosher salt
  • 60 milk chocolate kisses unwrapped (a 10.8 oz. package contains about 66 Kisses, brand Hershey's

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Preheat oven to 375° F.
  2. In a large bowl, beat peanut butter, butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, egg, milk, and vanilla with electric mixer on medium speed until well blended. Blend in flour, baking soda, and salt until dough forms.
  3. Shape dough into balls that are just bit more than 1" in diameter. I like to use a small scoop to portion out the dough - mine holds 1 tablespoon of dough. Roll dough balls in granulated sugar and place them on ungreased cookie sheets, about 2" apart.
  4. Bake for 8 minutes, or until edges are light golden brown. Remove from oven and immediately press a chocolate kiss into the center of each cookie. Remove from cookie sheets to cooling rack.

Notes

  • Use unsalted butter softened to cool room temperature for best texture and consistency in the dough.
  • Ensure baking soda is fresh and active to achieve proper rise and texture in the cookies.
  • Roll each dough ball in granulated sugar before baking to create a lightly crisp sugar coating on the finished cookies.
  • Press the chocolate kiss firmly into each cookie immediately after baking to keep its shape and add a slightly melted center.
