Peppermint Hot Chocolate

A mug of creamy Peppermint Hot Chocolate is the perfect way to warm up on a cold winter’s night.

Ingredients

  • 10 ounces milk whole or 2% is preferable
  • 3 tablespoons chocolate syrup
  • 3-4 starlight peppermint candies, crushed

Instructions

  1. In small saucepan, heat milk, chocolate syrup,and peppermints on low to medium low heat. Stir or whisk until milk is hot and peppermints have dissolved.  Do not overheat or boil milk.
  2. Serve in a mug.  Top with whipped cream or mini marshmallows and crushed peppermints if desired.

Notes

  • Try your preferred milk, such as 1%, skim, almond, etc. It's best to stick with an unsweetened milk.
  • Crush the peppermints by placing in a Ziploc-style bag and break up by using a rolling pin or flat mallet.  Crush extra for topping if desired.
