Peri Peri Mayonnaise - Perinaise
Peri Peri Mayonnaise blends creamy mayonnaise with smoked paprika, ground African bird eye chili or cayenne, garlic, lemon juice, and optional sugar for a spicy, tangy dipping sauce or spread. The balance of spices and acidity creates a flavorful condiment that can be tailored to preferred heat levels.
Ingredients
- ½ teaspoon paprika powder
- ½ - 1 teaspoon African bird eye chili use more or less depending on how spicy you like to have your dip, or cayenne pepper, ground
- ¾ teaspoon garlic ground
- 1 teaspoon sugar (optional)
- ½ cup mayonnaise (alternatively, use low-carb or vegan mayo)
- 1½ tablespoon lemon juice (juice from half of a medium-sized lemon)
- salt or more, to taste, a pinch
Instructions
- Start by mixing all dry ingredients in a bowl until well combined.
- Add the mayonnaise and stir until smooth. Next, slowly add the lemon juice, stir again, and then adjust the flavor with a pinch of salt or more as preferred. Once satisfied with the taste, serve your peri peri mayonnaise immediately or store it in the fridge for later.
Notes
- Adjust the amount of African bird eye chili or cayenne pepper to control the spiciness of the mayonnaise.
