Philly Cheesesteak Frito Pie

Philly Cheesesteak Frito Pie is a fun twist on the southern dish, Frito Chili Pie. Ground beef, bell peppers, onions and mushrooms are cooked together and served over Fritos, topped with a creamy provolone sauce for one easy and epic recipe!

Ingredients

Philly Cheesesteak Frito Pie
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 cups green bell pepper diced
  • 1 cup onion diced
  • 1 cup portobello mushrooms diced
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 9.75 oz bag Fritos corn chips
Provolone Cheese Sauce
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 8 oz Provolone cheese grated
  • 4 oz cream cheese cubed
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Add the butter to a large skillet on the stove over medium heat. 
  2. Once melted, add the bell pepper, onion and mushrooms, cook 4-5 minutes, then and the ground beef, salt and pepper, cook 5-7 minutes or until the beef is cooked through.
  3. In a separate saucepan on the stove over medium heat, add all of the ingredients for the provolone cheese sauce. 
  4. Stir continuously until the cheese is melted into a thick sauce.
  5. Divide the Fritos between four plates, top the fritos with the philly cheesesteak ground beef mixture, then spoon the provolone cheese sauce on top.
