Pull Apart Cinnamon Rolls

Pull Apart Cinnamon Rolls feature canned cinnamon roll dough divided into bite-sized pieces coated with melted butter, cinnamon sugar, and caramel bits. When baked in a muffin tin, the pieces bake together yet remain easy to pull apart, combining a soft, cinnamon-sweet interior with caramel-enhanced edges. Drizzling warmed cream cheese frosting on top completes these indulgent, shareable treats suited for gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 24.8 ounces cinnamon rolls two 12.4 ounce cans with 8 rolls each, canned with cream cheese icing
  • ½ cup butter melted, unsalted
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup caramel bits

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F.
  2. Cut each cinnamon roll into 9 pieces, and pull the pieces apart.
  3. Melt the butter in a large bowl and add the pieces of cinnamon roll to the bowl.
  4. Add the sugar, cinnamon and caramel bits, and toss until the cinnamon roll dough is evenly coated in the butter, cinnamon and sugar.
  5. Spray a muffin tin with cooking spray.
  6. Add 12 pieces of the coated cinnamon rolls to each compartment in the muffin tin.
  7. Place the muffin tin on a rimmed baking sheet in case any caramel drips over the muffin tin while the rolls are baking.
  8. Place the rolls in the oven to bake for 12 minutes.
  9. Remove from the oven and transfer the cinnamon rolls to a large plate or serving tray.
  10. Heat the cream cheese frosting in the microwave for 20 seconds (in the container they came in, but without the metal lid).
  11. Use a spoon to drizzle the cream cheese frosting over the pull apart cinnamon rolls.

Notes

  • Cut cinnamon rolls into pieces before tossing to ensure even coating with cinnamon and sugar.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator up to 5 days; reheat using an air fryer or microwave for best texture.
  • Optional: Replace caramel bits with ½ cup chocolate chips, diced apples, or butterscotch morsels for flavor variations.
  • This recipe can be doubled easily for larger gatherings like holidays.
