Pull Apart Cinnamon Rolls
Description
This recipe transforms canned cinnamon rolls into a pull apart version by cutting each roll into nine chunks. Tossing the pieces with melted butter, cinnamon, sugar, and caramel bits ensures they are evenly coated, adding richness and sweetness to every bite. The coated dough is portioned into muffin tins to bake, allowing the pieces to meld yet maintain separable portions.
Baked at a relatively high temperature, the rolls develop lightly crisp edges while remaining soft inside. The inclusion of caramel bits adds a chewy, buttery accent throughout. After baking, drizzling the cream cheese frosting creates a tangy sweetness that balances the caramel and cinnamon components.
This style of cinnamon roll is appealing for sharing at brunches or holiday occasions, as they are conveniently portioned and visually casual. The recipe’s use of canned rolls simplifies preparation. Leftover rolls store well refrigerated and can be quickly reheated in an air fryer or microwave, maintaining their texture. Variations include substituting caramel bits with chocolate chips, diced apples, or butterscotch morsels for different flavor profiles.
Overall, these pull apart cinnamon rolls offer a textural mix of soft dough, sweet cinnamon sugar, and chewy caramel with a creamy icing finish, ideal for cozy or festive settings.
