Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • cinnamon stick optional

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Add everything but vanilla extract into a small sauce pan. Whisk to combine and heat over medium heat until simmering. Let simmer for 2 minutes.
  2. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Pour through a fine mesh strainer into a bowl. Let cool completely at room temperature.
  3. Add to a glass jar and store in the fridge.

Notes

  • Don't let the mixture come to a rolling boil, just heat it up enough to simmer.
  • Don't skip the cooling step! If you add the hot syrup to a glass jar, then the glass might crack.
  • You can use sugar alternatives like monk fruit or coconut sugar if desired.
