Quick and Easy Homemade Cheez Whiz

This homemade cheez whiz is rich, flavourful, and so easy to make. It’s made with real cheese and so much better than the store-bought version.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 oz cream cheese sliced
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon mustard powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric (this will give your cheez whiz a nice orange color)
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch

Instructions

  1. In a small mixing bowl, garlic powder, onion powder, mustard powder, turmeric, sugar, salt and cornstarch. Mix well.
  2. In a saucepan over medium low heat, add the milk and cream cheese.
  3. Bring to a simmer, whisking frequently, until the cream cheese has dissolved into the milk.
  4. Add the seasoning mixture into the cream cheese mixture. Continue to cook for about a minute or until it thickens.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in the shredded cheese.
  6. Fold the cheese into the hot liquid until completely melted. Serve and enjoy!
