Rårörda Lingon

Rårörda lingon are lingonberries with sugar, to be enjoyed as is or as a popular accompaniment to main dishes in Sweden.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz. lingonberries (fresh or frozen, thawed)
  • ⅔ cup sugar
Equipment
  • 1 glass jar (sterilized)

Instructions

  1. Place the lingonberries in a bowl.
  2. Pour the sugar over them.
  3. Mix and set aside in a cool place.
  4. Stir occasionally until all the sugar is dissolved, which can take up to 1 day or longer.
  5. Crush a few lingonberries lightly with the back of a spoon to release some of their juice and help dissolve the sugar.
