Raspberry Rose Compote

Raspberry Rose Compote is a gently simmered mixture of fresh raspberries sweetened with cane sugar and delicately flavored with rose water. The resulting compote is thickened and fragrant, offering a floral, sweet-tart spread or topping suitable for desserts or breakfasts. The option to strain out seeds creates a smooth texture when desired.

Ingredients

  • 250 g raspberry rinsed and drained
  • 2-3 tablespoon granulated cane sugar depending on how sweet/sour the raspberries are
  • 1 tablespoon rose water start with ½ teaspoon and adjust according to your taste

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine the raspberries and sugar.
  2. Bring to a simmer over medium-low heat and stir occasionally, until thickened and reduced, about 10-15 minutes.
  3. Once thickened, add in the rose water and cook for another 1-2 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and let cool.
  5. Note: The compote will thicken a little more once cooled.
  6. Optional: If you want to remove the seeds, push the mixture through a sieve.
