Roasted Chickpeas - 2 Ways

Roasted Chickpeas are seasoned with spices like cumin and paprika, coated in olive oil, then cooked to a crunchy finish in either the oven or air fryer. Variations include curry, chili, or za'atar spice blends, offering a range of flavorful snacks or salad toppers with a satisfying crisp texture.

Description

This recipe uses canned chickpeas which are rinsed and dried thoroughly before tossing with olive oil, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. The base seasoning can be varied with spice blends like curry powder with turmeric, chili powder with garlic powder, or za'atar with sumac, creating distinct flavor profiles.

Baking at 425°F for 30-35 minutes or air frying at 400°F for 12-15 minutes crisps the chickpeas until crunchy. The methods require tossing halfway through cooking for even browning. The end result is a crunchy snack with seasoned, toasted flavor.

Roasted chickpeas are suitable as snacks, salad additions, or garnishes. They keep well at room temperature for several days, crunch retained by allowing air in the container. They also freeze well and can be thawed before eating to preserve texture.
